Its not funny. OK, maybe it is. If I go back again to get a color version I’ll have to buy some, she seemed so disappointed.

Seriously – the white highlights her incredible lines. This is a beautiful flower.

It definitely is. The purple were also gorgeous but I didn’t get close enough.

I grew dahlias this year and nothing came out of it too… They should be white but I didn’t see them bloom.
P.S. I have a lot of sad stories 😆

If that’s your saddest story you’re doing very well! These were at an Amish farm stand and I’m sure she spent years figuring out how to grow them.

Thanks Mike, I decided not to go back for a color one in better light but I did get schooled in the care and feeding of Dalias by an expert.

Sengcan said that? How ironic. 🙂

Are we talking about the same Sengcan, the third Chinese patriarch of chán after Bodhidharma and thirtieth patriarch after Siddhārtha Gautama Buddha?

Erm, probably. It was the one you quoted as saying that it does no good to say stuff (paraphrasing). Just thought it ironic that he *said* that, if you know what I mean

On a different note (but tangentially related) I bought a book called Oxymoronica: Paradoxical Wit and Wisdom (by Dr Mardy Grothe) today. My favourite so far is “If you’re afraid of loneliness, don’t marry.” 🙂
